Japanese as a second language

Japanese as a second language comprises of 3 parts: reading comprehension (30 minutes, 200 points), listening-reading comprehension (55 minutes, 200 points) and writing an essay of about 500 words (30 minutes, 50 points).
In contrast to Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), EJU examines applicants' input and output skills in order to be able to understand lectures at a university. So, students need to prepare for the Japanese test part by part to achieve high scores.

Mathematics

In both Mathematics (Liberal Arts) and Mathematics (Science), the tests are based on Japanese high school syllabus.
Because the test examines the applicants based on Japanese syllabus, there will be questions using concepts that are not taught in high schools in foreign countries. The test may include many word problems, where applicants need to draw graphs and figures to answer.

Japan and the World

Liberal arts subjects are also tested based on Japanese high school syllabus.
The tests ask about Japan and the world in a field of History, Geography, Economics and Politics.
In History and Geography, students are advised to learn in their mother tongue first, and replace the information to Japanese. On the other hand, in Economics and Politics, there may be some concepts that students have never heard of.In either case, experts in MJI will teach as efficiently as possible and so, enable the students to learn more concepts.

Science

In sceience exams, applicants choose 2 subjects from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. These tests will be based on Japanese high school syllabus as well.
Physics is similar to Mathematics in some ways, and we will focus on the concepts that are taught only in Japan first and then, learn to answer word problems. Similarly for Chemistry and Biology, after studying the concepts that are taught only in Japan, students will start replacing the information from their mother tongue to Japanese.

Preparation course for master’s degree

The most important thing for students who aim to enter master’s degree is to set the research topic that they want to pursue in a graduate school. Generally, students decide to expand and deepen their knowledge and understanding on what they learned in an undergraduate level and they choose appropriate university research department that they want to enter.
Yet, those students who majored in Japanese in undergraduate level, might want to choose to pursue different fields in a graduate school to obtain jobs in Japan. Even in this case, students are required to have descent amount of specialized knowledge in the field on which they want to conduct the research in order to enter the graduate school and thus, they need to start preparing for it well in advance.
MJI offers not only the Japanese language education from the beginner to advanced levels but also, offers the language education upon the specialized vocabularies depending on what students want to pursue, network between the students and professors in research department in a graduate school, instructions on writing “Research Proposal” and essay/ interview courses to get ready for the second stage of universities’ admission procedures.
